Yasmin Ahmad began her career in advertising as a copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather, eventually rising to creative director at Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur. Her television commercials are well-known in Malaysia -- particularly her ads for PETRONAS, the national oil and gas company.

Yasmin's films have won many international awards and praise from the critics and public alike. Most of her films have been screened at the Berlin, San Francisco, Singapore and Cannes (film market) international film festivals. Her films were featured in a special retrospective[1] at the 19th Tokyo International Film Festival in October 2006. An April 2007 retrospective[2] of her feature films was sponsored by the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, University of Hawaii, and the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

{ Cassette Tapes }

This is innovation. While random blog-surfing, I saw this. I can say I was blown away. Quite amazing.

About the artist:
iri5 is an artist who specialises in using non-traditional media such as old books, audio cassettes, playing cards, magazines etc, to create her works. In her series called "Ghost in the Machine" (shown below), she showcase a number of celebrities' portraits made out of recycled cassette tape with original cassette. Also in it are some made from old film and reels. iri5 got the inspiration from a philosopher's description of how your spirit lives in your body.
